Port in the Storm
A Refuge in Troubled Times
The Flames and The Great Flame

Once upon a time there was a roaring flame which never went out. This flame was the spirit from which all other flames were lit. Each flame was itself, yet each flame was also a part of the Great Flame as they had been made in the image of the One Great Flame.
In order to discover more about themselves, each flame had to first recognise that they were a flame that was meant to bring light into this world.
However many flames had no idea that this was their purpose at all because so few were taught this truth. Instead their flame was covered over and hidden by others and systems that could not or did not believe in this truth. The light that was meant to emenate from them was hidden under a layer and tissue of lies about who they were and what life was about and for.
Some flames discovered their truth and tried to share their light with others but soon came to realise that there was such resistance in the world to The Great Flame and its light that most thought they were living a myth. Many gave up trying to tell others about the flame within them, afraid of being hurt and rejected once more.
Yet the Great Flame knew that he had to reveal this truth in order to bring as much light and colour into the world as possible. And so he planted within each flame the truth of who they were and at the right time he opened a door which they could go through if they so desired with the promise of new life, hope and meaning beyond what they could presently discern. Some ignored this call to go through the door whilst others were brave enough to leave all they knew to go in search of the more and the different. They were drawn every step of the way by lampposts which were there to bring light into darker parts of their journey.
Many soon discovered this world of inexplicable design and wonder and knew that they could never go back. Some called them foolish for believing in more and better but something within them was urging them on to discover new lands of thoughts and ideas. These were explorer flames who knew that they could no longer be content without greater meaning and purpose in their life. Surely there must be more to life than this? they asked of themselves.
And very soon they discovered nuggets of truth which helped them make so much better sense of the world they lived within. These were the ones who knew that they must never let the flame of who they are go out. It was their responsibility to protect that flame and give it a chance at life and to glow. Each flame discovered that they were not only here to shine their own light but also to reflect the light of The Great Flame of which they too were a part.
This truth is out there to be found. But it will only be so if one is brave enough to go deeper in life into the soil which holds seams of iron ore, gold and silver. It will never be found on the popular byways of life but only where others haven't searched before. It's an adventure but only possible to those with an adventurous spirit and a desire for more.
This site gives you tiny pieces of golden nuggets which I found on my journey to discover the truth of who I am and why I am here. I share them gladly with you and hope that something glistens and catches your eye as you look upon them. If not, don't worry. Just move onto something new which might better capture your imagination or redirect you somewhere else.
But remember, you do have a magnificent flame wanting to burn bright within you. You just need to follow the leading of The Great Flame in order to be able to find it. Happy hunting!
