Today is the only day you have. Today you can still do something kind or meaningful, caring or creative, regardless of the weather outside. Do today what you can’t do when the weather is fair. And what is that?
Too many people keep themselves so busy that they never have time to be alone with themselves. Many fear themselves and their inner self is a stranger. But the wonder within you can change everything in an instance, if you embrace him or her.

Do not be afraid of yourself at this time. Learn to listen to the still small voice within you, guiding and encouraging you and bringing you fresh perspective. Take time to pick up a flower and hold her in your hands. Let her speak to you a truth in a way that only that flower can. She might want to tell you that in the same way as she has been intricately and wonderfully made, so too have you. She might want to reveal to you the depth of the colours held within you, longing to burst free. She might want to show you the incredible order that even the tiniest flower can reveal. Through that, she might want to reassure you that if God has taken so much care and love over something as simple as a flower, which no one might ever see, what more care and love does he have for you.
In all your busyness, there is little time to still your life and let nature speak to you and share the words she knows will bring life to you today. God is the creator of the universe. He has lessons and songs and revelations waiting to be discovered every day, if we but have the eyes to see and the ears to hear. In this time when everything is being stripped back to the basics, do not fret or be concerned, for is he not showing you what the most important things are in life? In all our busyness we have lost sight of what these things are and have often been caught up in the meaningless and the minutiae of life. It’s as if he is taking a torchlight and shining it upon the things he wants to once again bring to our attention. These are the things that make life special and meaningful. These are the most important things that really count.
So do not fear being alone or cut off from others and the frantic pace of life. Learn to breathe again; long, slow, beautiful breaths. Hear yourself breathe. Begin to open your eyes to the things of beauty all around you but which you failed to see in your frenetic hurrying and busying. This is an incredible snapshot in time which might never come again. If he has slowed the world so much, there must be something of great awe and wonder that he wants us to find.
So, go out and explore and find the jewels that can only be discovered in this special time and season. Don’t fret over what you have lost. Instead be excited by all you might find.
Each day is a gift, you just need to open it to see what is inside.
Take an hour today to go outside and to stop and stare at the beauty all around you. If you have a phone camera, take pictures of all the things that catch your eye, things you might otherwise have missed. At the end of the day go through them and see how they make you feel.
What sights, smells and sounds brought you the greatest pleasure today?
Pick a flower and spend time looking lovingly at it. Ask God to show you something beautiful about yourself as you spend time with it. What did it speak to you of?
What was the greatest gift that today brought you?
