Do only that which you and you alone can do.
Too many people spend their lives trying to be someone else. They try to live another’s dreams because deep down they believe that this other one’s life has more meaning or worth than their own.
But that would be a lie. When God created each and every one of us he was creating his children. Now, we can believe that he might be a bad or poor father or we can choose to believe the truth, that every single thing he creates he creates with love and in love. Which means that when he was designing us, he was as excited and expectant about who we were and would be as anyone else on the planet.
To prove that to us, he gave us unique fingerprints. Imagine that. 7 billion people on the planet and each and every one of them is uniquely different, right down to their fingerprints. Through this, he declares that each of us is incredibly important, special and precious to him and no one is loved or appreciated more than anyone else.
Within that design, it is as if he inserted a scroll deep within us and written on that scroll are some of the mysteries of the universe and details too about our purpose for being here and life’s meaning. He loves that much of who he has created us to be is hidden from us until we are ready and willing to open the scroll and discover his heart for us.
In the same way as we have been created uniquely, we too have a unique calling on our life which can be achieved by not one single other soul on the planet. Some people may have similar callings, but yours is unique, a one of a kind, just like your fingerprint. You have a song within you that needs to be sung. The tragedy would be if, believing others songs sound better, you try and imitate theirs and ignore your own. At the end of this life, whatever opportunities you were given to bring that song forth will be over.
Don’t try and copy another. Don’t put your tracing paper over their life and try to produce in yourself something which was never yours to have. Learn to unwrap who you are and when you discover him or her, then you will better understand your special calling in this life and it will delight and excite you in a way that following or copying others never could.
So learn who you have been created to be and do what only you can do.
Do you believe that you have a unique calling on your life, something which only you can do? If so, what do you believe your calling(s) to be?
What unique fingerprint to you want to leave behind? Why is that?
What can you do to better understand or identify what only you can do?
