In life, we all have dreams, hopes and desires. We get excited about them and full of anticipation.

These dreams are like porcelain figurines. They are delicate and break easily. We hold these figurines close to our chest and often wrap them up because we are afraid to share them with others, in case they laugh at us, our dreams or hopes.
However then one day, we dare to get out our figurine, maybe to a trusted friend or perhaps to a stranger, as that somehow feel safer. It is then that person’s choice as to how they respond. They can choose to take this precious figurine and hold it gently in their hands and find something beautiful in what they can see. Or they can drop it and watch it break into a hundred pieces. That is what we do in reality when others trust us with something so dear to them as a dream or deeply held desire.
It’s as if the dream is a balloon. They might have blown a little of their breath of life into it and when they share with us we can either encourage them to keep breathing their passion and dedication into it so that the balloon continues to expand, or we can be balloon poppers, digging our sharp pins in so that all the air escapes. There are a dream crushers in the world and dream encouragers. Which one are you?

One day you too might have a dream that means the world to you and you might dare to be brave enough to get it out and share it with another. That moment is a truly nerve racking time for the one who dares to share it. If you pop that balloon for whatever reason, that dream is very likely to die. That dream might have been a God breathed dream or hope of his, in which case something that might have blessed another will have been buried in an early grave.
Take great care what comes out of your mouth and from your tongue. It may have eternal consequences. There will always be one part of another’s dream that you can encourage. The figurine might not look like a figurine you might decide presenting to the world, but to that other person, it is full of beauty and delight.
Encourage others dreams, for some of them might help restore Love onto the throne in this world.
Proverbs 18:21 Death and Life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits
How do you react when others share their dreams with you? Are you a dream encourager or a dream crusher?
Has anybody crushed your dreams and popped your balloon? How did that make you feel?
What might you do to better encourage the dreams in others?
